Snowflake and Next Pathway Announce a Strategic Partnership

San Mateo ,CA & Toronto, ON — October 23, 2019 — Snowflake, the data warehouse built for the cloud, and Next Pathway Inc., the Automated Cloud Migration company, today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the migration from legacy data warehouses into Snowflake.

Snowflake will license Next Pathway’s proprietary code translation technology, SHIFT™ , to provide Snowflake customers the ability to automate what is typically the most time-consuming, manual and costly task in a cloud migration effort – legacy code conversion. This includes the automatic conversion of database objects such as SQL, Stored Procedures, workflow and orchestration logic (ETL), DDL, and other code types, from technologies such as Teradata and Netezza.

SHIFT™ was specifically designed to accelerate the migration from legacy data warehouses to the cloud,” said Chetan Mathur, Chief Executive Officer at Next Pathway.  “The migration of complex legacy code is proving to be the greatest bottleneck in any cloud migration project, and with SHIFT™ , we’ve helped our customers greatly accelerate their migration while reducing their end-to-end project costs.”

Traditionally, the path to decommission legacy data warehouses involved lengthy manual development and testing efforts to rewrite and refactor code that has been built over decades – a process that takes months or years to complete. Through the use of SHIFT™ , customers can automatically convert the most important (or the most complicated) workloads in hours, greatly reducing migration costs.

“We are excited to partner with Next Pathway and provide our customers with a faster and more efficient migration path for migrating data into Snowflake’s cloud-built data,” Snowflake Vice President of Product, Christian Kleinerman said. “By automating the migration effort, customers can refocus their time on consuming and leveraging their data to drive the business forward.”

Snowflake will incorporate SHIFT™ into their technology offerings under the banner, "SnowPATH, Powered by Next Pathway", effective immediately.
